Rebel Team Talks It Up

Joe Negrette (TSM from Santee), Ed Reyes (Team Member from Escondido), and Greg Eubanks (TSM from El Cajon), answers questions from Expo attendees.

San Diego ConstructionExpo 2007

On Saturday, April 28th, Rebel Rents' San Diego locations participated in the San Diego ConstructionExpo 2007 held at the Qualcomm Stadium. The expo was huge, with many varying exhibitors including contractors, subcontractors, other equipment rental companies, even banks. Some of our loyal customers were also there: some just visiting and others participating in the event. It was good to see them there.

Rebel had a booth manned by Joe Negrette from Santee, Greg Eubanks from El Cajon, Ed Reyes from Escondido, with support from Rebel's Marketing Manager, Doug Fleury. Joe, Greg, and Ed took time out of their weekend to support our Rebel cause. In doing so, and for being true team players, they each received a gold star for their outstanding effort and our sincere thanks.

The expo lasted from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. Rebel distributed Human Resources packets for recruitment as well as General Contractors' presentation folders. The booth received so many visitors that our team actually ran out of the pre-prepared packets and had to be resourceful in coming up with more literature to give away. We estimate being visited by over 200 attendees.

Murrieta Business Expo 2007

Rebel Rents Temecula, headed by Janine Olson, Inside Sales and Marketing Rep for the Temecula branch, participated in the Murrieta Business Expo 2007 held Thursday at the Lowe's parking lot off Madison and Kalmia in Murrieta. The event ran from 5:oo pm until 8:00 pm. Most everyone from the No. Temecula branch participated and supported the event including Paul Montanez, Team Member from No. Temecula, Jim Hamilton, Team Leader of both No. & So. Temecula, Janine Olson, as well as Jim Rufing, TSM for the area.

There were many other participants, including the local authorities: Fire Department and Police Department. It was a good way to get involved with the local community and its surroundings.

Rebel Rents Green Equipment!

Rebel Rents’ corporate office had an unexpected visit yesterday from an Air Quality Inspector from the Engineering & Compliance Office of the Air Quality Management District (AQMD) to ensure regulations compliance with the California Air Resources Board (CARB). These regulations cover all portable equipment in our rental fleet with engines in excess of 50 hp. As we are all aware of, state mandated regulations can be complicated, to say the least.

At Rebel, we understand the importance of protecting the environment by renting only equipment that adheres to these strict standards. One the ways we accomplished this was by replacing our old fleet with newer equipment that meets the new air quality regulations. By doing so, not only did we comply with the new standards, but it also lets our customers know when they rent equipment from Rebel, they are getting equipment that is environmentally safe (Green Equipment).

It is also worth mentioning that our own Doug Fleury have been working with American Rental Association (ARA) on these issues, and with the help from John McClelland, ARA Vice President, Government Affairs, have come a long way in helping Rebel achieve this goal.

The AQMD Inspector was impressed with our record-keeping and passed with flying colors!

Everyone at Rebel should be proud to be working for a company that is environment-conscious.

Come Rain or Shine

One of Rebel Rents' valued customers recently held a party at their Riverside location. Gothic Landscape had planned the party months in advance, but never planned on the strange weather in which the event was subjected to. The rain poured all day Friday, but the attendees weathered the rain and had a great time. Rebel Rents contributed to the event in many ways including giving out Rebel hats to 180 of Gothic's employees.

Tom Gilroy, Rebel Rents' Territory Sales Manager from San Jacinto, presented a Rebel appreciation plaque to Mr. Dave Schwimmer, Gothic Landscapes Riverside Division Manager and his office Manager Kathy Tobin.

Everyone enjoyed a mexican grilled lunch as well as a live band. We congratulate Gothic Landscapes and Tom Gilroy for a successful event, despite the weather conditions.

Meeting of the Minds with ARA

ARA held yet another Construction & Industrial Special Interest Group meeting. This time, it was held at the ARA National Headquarters in Moline, IL, within the John Deere community. The attendees included ARA members from throughout the nation, chosen from a select group of the community it serves, the rental industry, as well as the equipment manufacturing faction.

Doug Fleury was, again, chosen to participate in this 2-day meeting in which various subjects were covered including: Education & Training, Risk Management/Safety, and Governmental Affairs, among others.

We are proud to be part of this organization, and prouder yet to be actively involved in making a difference in the industry in which we are a part of.

Team Members Train to Fill Up

All Rebel stores that possess propane dispensing tanks have recently undergone a refreshers' course and re-certification on how to properly dispense (fill up) propane. Amerigas and Ferrellgas companies have graciously visited our Santee, El Cajon, San Jacinto, Mira Loma, Escondido and our South Temecula locations to conduct the training.

At Rebel Rents, we take the safety of our team members seriously. We express our commitment to their safety by advocating this training program.

We thank Amerigas and Ferrellgas for taking the time to come out and train our team members. We also thank our team members and their team leaders for reiterating and supporting the importance of this training.

San Jacinto Flaunts A New Bill

A NEW BILLBOARD, that is! That's right! Harry and the San Jacinto team put up a new billboard to gain more exposure for their store location. This 8' x 20' billboard is located on State St. heading south towards Esplanade, and looks pretty slick. It is sure to attract motorists and passersby. The huge, new billboard, will be on display for some time. If you're in the area, you definitely must drive by to see it!
Looking good, Harry!

Rewarding Rewards

Another one of our Territory Managers cashes in on their Rebel Reward Zone Points. This is Jim Rufing's second time reaping the benefits of this reward program. The first time around, he got golf clubs for himself. This time, he's sharing the wealth with his wife by getting her a brand new laptop computer, which she's going to be using on her new start-up home business.

It is good to see our Territory Managers get rewarded for their hardwork. It is equally good to know this program is working for them and that they are excited about it.

Compliments to Good Driving

Rebel Rents advocates good, safe driving to all our drivers, which is why we opted to participate in the "How Am I Driving" program. It proves a success, as we receive many phone calls reporting on how we are doing out there on the roads. The best calls, however, are the ones that let us know how WELL we are doing.

On the morning of March 30th, we got such a call. Steve Montano, a Class A Transportation Specialist from Mira Loma, was complimented on his driving skills while he was driving one of our freightliners. The caller said he was quite impressed that the driver of the unit (581) he was calling about was very courteous and following rules of the road by the book.

For his great effort, Steve was recognized by his Team Leader, Scott Miller, with a Gold Star. CONGRATULATIONS, and WAY TO GO, STEVE!
