Summer Beach Picnic

On Sunday, August 26th, Rebel Rents held their summer beach picnic. The weather started out a bit doubtful, but in the end, it was the usual beautiful California beach weather.

The location was perfect: water and grassy area both to accomodate different activities for kids and adults alike. The smell of hotdogs and burgers grilling wafted through the air; Brett did a great job manning the barbecue station, as usual. The setting was very conducive for that family Sunday fun with the kids, which is exactly what many did, while others just sat and relaxed and smelled the fresh ocean breeze. Some took this opportunity to catch up on things with colleagues from different branches that they don't often see.

The kids had plenty to do. There were different games such as hula hoop, animal balloon blowing, horseshoe toss, football and of course, frizbee. There were lots of prizes, and the kids just had a blast! Some adults joined in the kids' games, too. It was a hoot! There were also beach cruisers for whoever wanted to go for a ride.

It was a beautiful, relaxing day at the beach, surrounded with good people to boot. Thank you, Rebel Rents, for providing such great opportunities to mingle with our fellow Rebel-ers.

California Air Resources Board Policy Change Roll Out

It is always Rebel's goal to meet and comply with rules and regulations as quickly as possible. So, when the California Air Resource Board (aka CARB) signed into effect additional changes to their policies affecting equipment that are required to be registered with them, Rebel immediately set to work on satisfying these changes. These changes does not only apply to us as the rental company; some of the changes are directed toward the end users: our customers.

After a thorough scrutiny and gathering of information, and with much help from all our team members, the Marketing Department put together a book consisting of all the documents, forms and procedures that is needed to adhere to these policies. This book is created to help our stores maintain, in an orderly manner, the necessary information as required by the board. They are also there to help convey to our customers their responsibilities with the ARB, and guidelines on how to meet them.

On August 23, Rick Clauss and Doug Fleury took these books out on the road and rolled out these changes by the ARB, along with a new policy that is exclusively Rebel's. They met with two different groups of Team Leaders from the different locations to explain the expectations at length.

The Air Resources Board's expectations are quite extensive and will require more deliberate efforts from all of us, including our customers. However, Rebel is always up to the challenge. We are also here to provide the best support possible to our customers so they, too, will be in compliance.

Rebel Gets Noticed For Their Driving Skills

We received another one of those calls that can make anyone beem with pride. Thinking it rare to get compliments on the How Am I Driving program, it seems they are more common. A local motorist took the time to punch in our 800 number early morning on August 17th, to let us know that good driving skills deserve recognition. Kim was the responsible party for getting such a compliment.
Kim Starr is a Class A Driver from our North Temecula branch who, besides driving a big rig for Rebel, also conducts the Driver Proficiency Test for all of our Class A & B drivers company-wide. He was awarded the 3 Year No Accident Award in May of 2006.
Suffice it to say, Kim is keen on keeping him driving record in tact, while garnering further accolades from fellow motorists as well.
Excellent Job, Kim! We are proud to have you on our team!

Tapping Rebel's Greatest Natural Resources

In today’s economy, running a business could be very challenging. In the Rebel spirit, a new program, Operation Cost Streamlining, is launched that taps our greatest of resources: Rebel Rents' Team Members.

In this program, all our team members get an open invitation to let their ideas flow into the company. The ideas we seek are ones that will positively affect Rebel’s cost efficiency. Team members are the best source of ideas as they are the most in tune with what goes on in a day to day basis. They know best of what we need, what we don’t and what we can do without.

This program has a good rate of return for those who participate and whose ideas are picked up for implementation. Rebel Rents has designed a reward system for this program that truly encourages everyone to join in. Not only will our team members have contributed to the success of our company, they would also reap the benefits their ideas will result in, as well as get rewarded for the ideas themselves.

So, come one, come all! Exercise your power to effect efficiency in running our company!

Supporting the Troops the Rebel Way!

A couple of weeks ago, Rebel Rents received a call from Mr. Steve Hallaway who was coordinating the move of Operation DVD, an organization originally founded in Kansas and is now moving its operations in Temecula. The Temecula Valley Young Marines are taking over the operations after a year of working with its original leadership, making sure that the efforts continue. Operation DVD is a nonprofit organization aimed at getting movies and music CDs to troops deployed oversees. They are responsible for providing "our troops the safest form of entertainment for their situation, especially those in Iraq or Iran."

Mr. Hallaway, who was referred to Rebel by the Temecula Chamber of Commerce, spoke to other rental companies seeking assistance in moving the shipment of over 80,000 DVD's donated by Time-Life Inc. before speaking with us. He chose to work with Rebel after a lengthy conversation with one of our knowledgeable staff members. The staff member asked all the right questions to make Mr. Hallaway feel confident their job will be done in the best and most efficient way possible. Rebel donated a 5000lb pneumatic forklift along with a pallet jack to get their job done and didn't fail Mr. Hallaway's expectations.

Rebel is happy to play a role in supporting our troops while they are away in dangerous grounds.

Top Sales Manager in July

Tony Cunningham proves to us all that in this very competitive industry, and during tough times, he can still come out on top! Tony is one of the Territory Sales Managers for the Santa Ana location, and very polished in his field. In the month of July, he showed us just how polished he is in sales.

We would like to acknowledge his continued accomplishment by presenting him with a plaque. Since we know Tony to be an avid gamer, we will also present him with a Best Buy gift card to get that new World of Warcraft expansion set or the latest released game for his XBox 360.

Congratulations, Tony, and thank you for your consistent hard work.
