San Diego ConstructionExpo 2008
It is amazing how quickly the days are passing. It seems only yesterday that Rebel participated in the San Diego ConstructionExpo 2007, which was a great experience. Rebel was quite impressed with the turn out last year that we decided to participate again this year.
The San Diego ConstructionExpo 2008 was held on Saturday, March 29th at the Qualcomm Stadium; same venue as last year. The turn out was even bigger than last year. Joe Negrette from El Cajon, Robert Malsack from Escondido, and Gordon Belanger from Encinitas, all Territory Sales Managers, did a great job representing Rebel Rents. They handed out gloves, HR and Sales packets, while managing to generate sales leads.
We thank Joe, Robert and Gordon for dedicating last Saturday to the event, drumming up business for Rebel Rents.
Our Safety Mission

Our continuing effort to promote safety in our workplace has driven us to create a permanent Safety Mission poster. Yellow colored, laminated and slightly bigger than the standard letter sized postings, this is designed to catch the attention of passers by. This is a new roll out. The goal is to consistently drive the message to all our team members, and even our customers who come to the local store to rent, pick up or return equipment.
That's only half! Every month, a safety poster covering different safety concerns are being rolled out. These posters are more topic specific compared to the general safety concerns that our Safety Mission poster relays.
There is nothing more important than keeping our team members safe. Rebel, being an avid advocate of safety, will continuously find ways to create awareness in our workplace.
A Day In Sacramento
The American Rental Association of California recently held their Second Annual Lobby Day in Sacramento. This year, Doug Fleury was invited to participate, and he gladly obliged. He was among thirteen members of the ARA of California representatives who visited with 39 State Senate and Assembly members' offices throughout the day on March 11th. Doug was scheduled to meet with seven of the 39. The purpose of the caucus was to appeal issues that affect the rental business and other businesses in California to the state representatives in person.
Lobby day participants attended a lunch with a member of Gov. Schwarzenegger's staff, where some attendees took the opportunity to thank them for helping push Air Resources Board staff to expedite registrations under the Portable Eequipment Registration Program. The expedited rules were a big victory that resulted from the first ARA of California lobby day in March 2007.
This was a great experience for Doug and Rebel Rents. To be involved in an organization that can affect laws is a great honor and privilege. This is only the beginning. Doug will be heading out to Washington D.C. next.
Good going , Doug!
Grounded at Orange County Fair

Peggy Megrdichian, one of the Territory Sales Managers from the Santa Ana location, received an invite to attend the Orange County (OC) Fairgrounds Monthly Maintenance Group Meeting early March. She and Chris Dalsimer, Santa Ana's Team Leader, attended the meeting, providing lunch to the 50 or so attendees.
Rebel Rents had a booth display with all the equipment the fairgrounds need to upkeep its over 150 acre spread in top shape for all the events they hold there.
Along with holding several big events throughout the year including the famous OC Fair in the

summer time, the OC Fairgrounds is home to the largest swap meet in Orange County. There's a petting zoo that is free to the public and an equestrian center. It also houses an Amphitheatre where major concerts are held.
Peggy and the rest of Rebel Rents are thrilled to partner with the OC Fairgrounds Maintenance Group. Thank you for your business and WELCOME TO THE REBEL FAMILY.

GREAT COME BACK!
The Cost Savings Committee had its first meeting since the re-launch of the Cost Savings Program in 2008. We are very excited and very proud to say we received some really good ones. We also have different participants from the various locations; a couple of Territory Sales Managers even shared their thoughts. IT’S WONDERFUL!
We’re currently in the process of putting together plans on how best to approach all these great ideas, and put them to use. Meanwhile, we want you all to know that we are really ecstatic with the great response. We knew there were more excellent ideas floating around. They just needed prodding.
Thank you so much to all who submitted their fantastic ideas: Harry Coffman #19, Marshall Kasa #26, Pedro Rodriguez #23, Peggy Megrdichian #28, Robert Levesque #14 and JR Torres #30. You, once again, sparked the fire on this program. Let’s keep the fire going!
Great Job!!!
Feeding the Brain

Multiquip, one of Rebel's most valued vendor-partners, held a training class today at our North Temecula location. Don Petry, a Field Service Manager at Multiquip conducted the training, which was coordinated by Rebel's Service Manager, John Benson. Representatives from the different locations attended the class which covered Operation and Maintenance of Rammers: Gas & Diesel, as well as Generators.
Training began promptly at 8:30am, and continued through about 11:00am. Those who attended were: Peter Songsan, Mike White, Fernando Cabral, Juan

Melchor, Henry Wallace, Martin Anguiano, Marshall Kasa, Winston Nash III, Elias Parraz, Scott VanVeghel, Michael Berry, Larry Costa, Michael Myers, and Joe Vullo. Of course, Mr. John Benson himself was in attendance.
All of the team members who attended were given a Certificate of Completion for the training to recognize their participation.
Excellent job to all. Thank you to Multiquip for your continued support and to Don Petry for sharing his knowledge with the Rebel Team Members.
Top Dealer Five Years in a Row

Rebel Rents just received another recognition from Multiquip for being one of their Top Dealers for 2007. We are proud to be a recepient of this award for five consecutive years.
We carry an extensive line of products from Multiquip such as portable generators, compactions, pumps and light towers, to name a few. They are very durable and stand up to the elements of nature quite well. The support they provide when needed is amazing, as well.
Rebel is more than satisfied with the relationship we've built over the years with Multiquip. Moreover, we are very pleased with the performance of their products. It keeps us aligned with our goal of providing only the best to our rental customers.
Thank you, Multiquip, for the recognition.

2008 The Rental Show
It's hard to believe how quickly the year 2008 is turning. The ARA's The Rental Show just finished it's yearly run; this time it was held in the Entertainment Capital of the World, glitzy Las Vegas! As usual, Rebel's very own Doug Fleury was in attendance even before the exhibits opened.

The ARA Construction U held a seminar on Sunday, February 10th, which Doug's participation was requested. Doug willingly obliged, speaking on "Rewarding and Keeping Good Employees." He was also invited to participate in John Deere's Advisory Council Meeting, which occurred the following day, the 11th. On the 12th, he received the President's Image Award won by El Cajon "in recognition of major building improvement that promotes a professional image and enhance the stature of the entire rental industry." This was a major achievement for Rebel as only 10 awards are given annually on this category nationwide (1 per each region with 10 regions).
The final leg of this trip was the Caucus orientation meeting hosted by the Government Affairs Committee. Its purpose was to brief those who will be participating in the ARA 2008 National Legislative Caucus in April (in D.C.) of what to expect. Doug Fleury will be attending and will take an active role in that Caucus.
This was certainly a very productive show for Mr. Fleury. He received much praise for the success of his turn in the Construction U's Seminar. Surely, the exposure Rebel is getting for contributing to major causes of the ARA will bring us well deserved recognition with our peers and with the other players in the rental industry. This will also, hopefully, earn us more business from contractors looking to work with a reputable and well respected rental company.
Managers' Meeting
Last Wednesday, the first Managers' Meeting for 2008 was held in our El Cajon store. The meeting was attended by Rick Clauss, Doug Fleury, Marketing/Fleet/Risk Manager; Jill Widtfeldt, Human Resources; Brett Guigneaux, IT/Accounting Manager. Also in attendance were the individual Team Leaders from the different stores: Harry Coffman from San Jacinto, Jose Chavez from Encinitas and Escondido, Jim Hamilton from Temecula, and of course, Mike Brown from El Cajon. Scott Miller from Mira Loma and Chris Dalsimer from Santa Ana could not attend due to previous engagements.
The meeting commenced around 10 am, with Jill going over her materials first, followed by Rick Clauss. The Team Leaders in attendance each got a turn to explain their "shared goals." The shared goals is an idea that was introduced during the annual roll out meeting. It allows for all the stores to think of how their team members will approach each goal and make it a success. It affords them to create their own strategy and planning, therefore ownership and accountability for the results.
The outcome of the meeting was quite positive. The Team Leaders became involved and actively discussed their strategies, sharing their thoughts and ideas along the way. This portion of the meeting grew intense that it absorbed much of the time. The rest of the topics that were slated to be covered had to be postponed for a later time or the next meeting.
Many of the ideas discussed have already been put to action. Many concerns are being looked into. In other words, this first Managers' Meeting have already began to yield results.
Excellent work! Let's focus on those goals and achieve success, TOGETHER!!!
